Concession

A concession card enables the person named on the card to travel at either a concession rate or free of charge on Adelaide Metro services.

All persons 15 years of age or over, pay regular full fares unless a current concession card is carried at the time of travelling and produced when requested by an authorised person.

You must have your concession card with you whenever you are travelling on a concession fare.

If the DVA Gold Card is not embossed with ‘TPI’ and the holder does do not have a letter of eligibility, they are entitled to a Concession fare.

St John Ambulance Volunteers in uniform

Free travel when travelling wearing the St John volunteer uniform. Both the green outdoor uniform and the black and white uniforms are permitted.

South Australian DVA Gold Card

If the DVA Gold Card is embossed with ‘TPI’ or the hard holder has obtained a letter of eligibility from DVA then they can apply for a metroCARD Special Pass.

If the DVA Gold Card is embossed with ‘TPI’ or a letter of eligibility has been obtained from DVA, a 14-day free travel metroCARD can be collected from the Adelaide Metro InfoCentre or ordered online.

SAPOLAll SAPOL officers may travel free on public transport, in uniform or casual clothing.

When you buy a new concession metroCARD (excluding Seniors Card), you pay $3.50 for the physical card and need to load a minimum of $5 to it before you can use it. You can recharge it in blocks of $5, up to $200.

Several conditions apply to the use of all concession cards:

  • Concession cards are non-transferable
  • Concession cards are not valid if they are mutilated
  • Concession cards must be produced to a Prescribed Officer or Authorised Officer on request in a declared area or when travelling on a bus, train or tram
  • Improper use of a concession card will render the offender liable to prosecution
