Adelaide Metro is cashless

When: From Monday 30 March 2020

Adelaide Metro is cashless

From Monday 30 March 2020, Adelaide Metro staff and bus drivers no longer accept cash to purchase tickets or add credit to metroCARDs.

This change is part of our efforts to protect staff and passengers during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Cash is no longer accepted at the Adelaide Railway Station InfoCentre or on our public transport network other than via ticket vending machines.

Customers who attend the InfoCentre with cash will be directed to the vending machines at Adelaide Railway Station.

What are we doing to help passengers who prefer cash?

To assist our passengers we are installing additional ticket vending and recharge machines that accept coins and credit cards in locations that have existing recharge-only machines, such as O-Bahn interchanges.

We are here to help. If you have any questions, please call the Adelaide Metro InfoLine for assistance on 1300 311 108 between 7am and 8pm daily.

I am a bus passenger, does this mean I can’t buy a ticket from the driver?

Bus drivers no longer sell tickets.

All bus passengers must travel with a valid metroCARD or a pre-purchased paper ticket.

To help passengers, additional metroCARD and ticket vending and recharge machines that accept coins and credit cards have been installed in a number of locations that have existing recharge only machines.

Find more information here on how to purchase a metroCARD, or call the Adelaide Metro InfoLine for assistance on 1300 311 108 between 7am and 8pm daily.

Can I still use paper tickets?

Paper tickets are still available, however must be purchased using bank card or credit card or cash via a vending machine. They will no longer be available for purchase from your bus driver, the Adelaide Metro InfoCentre or bus depots.
