An update on our regional public transport review

25 Mar 2025

As part of the State Government election commitment, the Department for Infrastructure and Transport is currently reviewing public transport services in regional South Australia.

During the regional public transport review, feedback will be gathered from key stakeholders regarding existing services, and current and future needs. The review will also include detailed analysis to better understand the movement of people within regional communities, including gaps in services, identifying opportunities to improve efficiency and sustainability of services, and potential new service models.

The review will also consider the recent procurement process for regional bus service contracts, with 19 contracted areas now in place and operational across regional South Australia.

Together with service delivery providers and transport needs identified by the community, the regional public transport service review will open opportunities for an improved and integrated experience.

A detailed consultation period will take place in mid 2025 across regional South Australia and will include key stakeholders and local communities. The aim of this process is to understand gaps in service (including frequency and coverage) and identify any significant changes within each region that could impact public transport demand.

Feedback received during the consultation period will assist with the design of an enhanced network, meeting public transport needs for communities in regional South Australia.
