As part of the $498 million redevelopment of the Flinders Medical Centre (FMC), the bus interchange will be moved and rebuilt roughly 60 metres from its current location.
The upgrade will see three new bus stop indents built on Flinders Drive, two on the eastern side (hospital side) and one on the western side. Two new pedestrian paths will also be established across Flinders Drive to allow passengers to move between the bus stops and hospital safely.
Two bus stop indents are expected to be completed later this year. One will be unavailable until after the building’s construction is complete. Passengers can continue to use the current interchange until the new zones have been built.
Due to the location and design of the new interchange, buses will no longer be able to U-turn within the interchange or layover.
In anticipation for the new interchange, multiple bus routes that travel through the Flinders Precinct will be reshaped.
The service changes will come into effect from Sunday 25 August 2024.
- Routes 719, 721, 722 - will be amended to travel along University Drive and Sturt Road then via their current route along Main South Road, providing access for the first time to Flinders
- Routes 721F, 722F and 723F - will now operate as routes T721, T722 and T723. These routes will service all stops between Noarlunga Centre Interchange and Stop 26 South Road then limited stops to/from City along South Road. This change will expand the catchment between Noarlunga Centre Interchange and Flinders Medical Centre, and allow passengers to board and alight at:
- Stop 26 Main South Road.
- Stop 23 Main South Road
- Stop 18 South Road.
- Stop 13 South Road.
- Stop 7 South Road.

- A new Go Zone will be introduced on routes 681, 720 and 734 between Marion Centre and Majors Road along Ocean Boulevard and Sturt Road.
- The current T722 bus route has been renumbered to 724X, and will now operate express between Stop 40 Panalatinga Road and City.
- Routes 721F, T721X, 722F and 723F - will now operate as routes T721, T722 and T723.
