City Connector and After Midnight services resume as city opens back up

The free City Connector and After Midnight bus services will resume as the City continues to open up following the impacts of COVID-19.

The City Connector service through the Adelaide CBD and North Adelaide will resume from this Sunday 5 July, with After Midnight services to start up again from the following Saturday night, 11 July.

The services were temporarily suspended from April 4 due to the introduction of restrictions in response to the COVID-19 pandemic and the resulting drop in patronage.

“Now that workers and the public are flooding back into our CBD as our economy opens back up, we are ensuring we provide accessibility around our CBD,” said Minister for Transport, Infrastructure and Local Government Stephan Knoll.

“As well as e-scooters coming back to the city last weekend, the City Connector bus will be restarting helping people move around the City after it was briefly postponed due to COVID-19.

“We’ve established a task force and in conjunction with the Adelaide City Council are exploring ways to provide better transport solutions in light of the impacts of COVID-19.”

Member for Adelaide Rachel Sanderson welcomed the resumption of services saying it would improve accessibility between North Adelaide and the CBD.

“I have been listening to my local community around North Adelaide and the city and I know they will be delighted these services have resumed,” said Ms Sanderson.

“We will continue to work with the Adelaide City Council to finalise the new longer-term route for the City Connector service to ensure we get the best outcome for the community.”

Lord Mayor Sandy Verschoor welcomed the return of these popular services to the City of Adelaide.

“The free City Connector is an important service and its return will be warmly welcomed by our community.
“It provides a free and convenient way for residents, students and visitors to access community services, shopping and entertainment throughout the CBD and North Adelaide.

“It’s great to see After Midnight services resuming in the city as well. With city bars, pubs and restaurants welcoming back more and more people, we want to ensure everyone gets home safe.”
