STUDENT TRAVEL BRIEF

Full-time Tertiary Student Identification Card
Public Transport Division, Department for Transport, Engery and Infrastructure is responsible for administering full-time tertiary identification cards. A valid card entitles the holder to travel at concession rates on all Adelaide Metro bus, tram and train services.

Recognised Full-Time Tertiary Student Identification Cards:
Two types of cards will be recognised by the Adelaide Metro for concession travel:

  1. a fully laminated photographic identification card;
    or
  2. a plastic credit card style photographic identification card issued by the Tertiary Institution of attendance endorsed with either a silver hologram Public Transport Division sticker or the expiry date printed on a Purple coloured card.

The expiry date is printed on the bottom right hand corner of the card.
Part-time student cards will not be recognised.

Use of Full-Time Student Identification Cards:
Students aged 15 and over are required to carry and show identification cards. These cards must be carried at all times when travelling, including evenings and weekends. Failure to produce a valid identification card when requested by an authorised person will result in the regular fare being charged and an expiation notice ('on the spot fine') being issued. Children under the age of 15 may be asked to produce proof of age. If proof of age cannot be produced, a regular fare ticket may be required to be purchased.

Concession Rates Applicable:
Only full-time secondary students are entitled to travel at concession rates. Part time students cannot travel at concession rates.
