Jetty Road, Glenelg traffic disruptions Monday 15 May to Friday 9 June 2017

The Department of Planning, Transport and Infrastructure has rescheduled the replacement of the Jetty Road tram track to now commence on Monday 15 May 2017.

Substitute buses will replace trams between stop 12 Morphett Road and stop 15 Brighton Road after 7.30pm each night during this time. Trams will return to normal service from first service Saturday 10 June. 

These will operate along Maxwell Terrace, servicing temporary bus stops adjacent to Morphett Road stop 12, Glengowrie, Glenelg East and Brighton Road stop 15 tram platforms, to and from the city. 

  • Substitute buses will operate every 15 minutes from 7.30pm to 9.30pm, then every 20 minutes from 9.30pm to last service

Substitute buses will operate to a higher frequency for AFL matches. 

FREE travel will be in place between Morphett Road stop 12 and Brighton Road stop 15 during works to replace the Jetty Road tram tracks.

In conjunction with the South Australian Jockey Club, the Morphettville Racecourse overflow car park will also be used as a free park-and-ride to encourage continued patronage of businesses along Jetty Road, while it is restricted for motorists. 

The works will commence after Mother's Day, an important day for Jetty Road businesses. Works are scheduled to be completed by Friday 9 June 2017, weather permitting, in time for the Queen's Birthday long weekend.

To complete the upgrade as quickly and efficiently as possible, works will occur 24 hours a day, 7 days a week with Jetty Road restricted to traffic between Brighton Road and Moseley Square.

Tram services will operate to and from stop 15 Brighton Road each day of the project with FREE travel between Morphett Road stop 12 and Brighton Road stop 15 during works.

Bus services that use or cross Jetty Road will be re-routed to avoid the construction site and will follow bus detours as below. 

Bus detours will occur in stages:

Stage 1

Jetty Road will be restricted for traffic between Brighton Road and east of Moseley Street from first service Monday 15 May to last service Wednesday 24 May.

265, 300, N262 no changes to bus routes or stops

167, 168, H20, J1 & J3 will detour via Anzac Highway to the western end to terminate and start from the temporary bus terminus on the northern side of Anzac Highway adjacent to Wigley Reserve.

190 will detour via Brighton Road and Anzac Highway to the temporary bus terminus on the northern side of Anzac Highway - no change to route to city.

Zone B Colley Terrace - 167, 168, H20, J1 & J3 - go to Anzac Highway temporary bus terminus

Stop 23P and 24P Pier Street south - 190 - go to stop 25 Diagonal Road

Stop 23 Moseley Street western side - 190 - go to Anzac Highway temporary bus terminus

Stage 2

Jetty Road will be closed west of Gordon Street to Moseley Square from first service Thursday 25 May to last service Friday 9 June

265, 300 & N262 will detour via Anzac Highway, Gordon Street, Partridge Street, High Street to temporary bus stops at the western end of High Street.

Bus stops for passengers to use:

Zone A Colley Terrace - 265, 300 & N262 - go to temporary bus stop northern side of High Street

Zone C Colley Terrace - 265, 300 & N262 - go to temporary bus stop southern side of High Street

Stop 21B Anzac Highway south - 265, 300 & N262 - go to stop 21A

Stop 21B Anzac Highway north - 265, 300, N262 - go to stop 21A

Temporary bus stops on Gordon Street west and east will be used by 265, 300 and N262 during the closure of Jetty Road.

Buses will travel in both directions along High St with caution.

Routes J1, J3, 167, 168 & H20 will detour via Anzac Hwy to the western end to terminate and start from the temporary bus terminus on the northern side of Anzac Highway adjacent to Wigley reserve.

Route 190 will detour via Brighton Road and Anzac Highway to the temporary bus terminus on the northern side of Anzac highway – no change to route to city

Stop 24P & 23P southern side Pier Street -  190 - go to bus stop 25 Diagonal Rd

Stop 23 Moseley Street western side -  190 - to  the Anzac Highway temporary bus terminus

Other impacts:

Disability parking and taxi ranks will be located as close as possible to existing locations. Pedestrian access along Jetty Road and to local businesses will be maintained.

Traffic detours will be in place throughout the closure with signage directing motorists. Road users are requested to observe traffic signs and restrictions. 

Pedestrian access to businesses along Jetty Road will be maintained at all times during the closure period, with pedestrians able to cross Jetty Road at Brighton Road, Moselely Street and Moseley Square. An additional pedestrian crossing will be provided on the western side of the intersection of Jetty Road with Gordon and Partridge Street.

Car parking along Jetty Road will not be available during the construction period. Signage will be in place to direct motorists to alternative parking sites.
