2017 MAC Footy Express Services

FREE MAC Footy Express services are the best way to get to and from the game

*Weeknight games: The free travel period for normal Adelaide Metro scheduled services applies 3 hours prior to the game start time. 

Your ticket to any AFL game at Adelaide Oval is also your ticket to FREE travel on MAC Footy Express bus, train and tram services operated by Adelaide Metro in partnership with the Motor Accident Commission (MAC) as well as all regular Adelaide Metro buses, trains and trams.

MAC Footy Express bus services operate from many suburban stops. There have been changes to some bus routes in 2017. Please see overview below and the updated route descriptions (PDF 153KB) and the MAC Footy Express Network Map (PDF 263KB) for full information.

  • Last MAC Footy Express buses depart the MAC Footy Express Interchange up to one hour after the final siren. Check the MAC Footy Express Guide or click on your service above for details. 
  • All MAC Footy Express buses set down and pick up at the special bus interchange on King William Road between North Terrace and Pennington Terrace, with some services using Victoria Drive - see the MAC Footy Express Interchange Map (PDF 82KB) for details 
  • MAC Footy Express services will drop off at some regular city stops in the city before the game, and where requested along route after the game

Overview of MAC Footy Express bus service changes

  • AOX1 Greenwith via O-Bahn: renumbered as AO1 and will now service all stops between Greenwith and Klemzig Interchange
  • AOX2 St Agnes depot via O-Bahn: renumbered as AO2 and will now service all stops between St Agnes and Klemzig Interchange
  • AOX3 Northgate via O-Bahn: renumbered as AO3 and will now service all stops between Northgate Shopping Centre and Klemzig Interchange
  • AOX4 Hope Valley via O-Bahn: renumbered as AO4 and will now service all stops between Hope Valley and Klemzig Interchange
  • AOX5 Salisbury East via O-Bahn: renumbered as AO5 and will now service all stops between Salisbury East and Klemzig Interchange
  • AO16 Rosewater via Days Road: route will now travel via Hanson Road and Grand Junction Road instead of Torrens Road and Addison Road
  • AO17 Semaphore via Port Road: will now service all stops between Semaphore and stop 5 Port Road
  • AO20 Blair Athol via Prospect Road: higher frequency for Port Power Games now every 20 minutes
  • AOX21 Ottoway via Arndale Centre: route discontinued. Partially replaced by amended AO16 route, see information above
  • Renumbered AO21 Aberfoyle Hub via Goodwood Road and Black Road: replacing route AOX22, see information below and will service all stops between Aberfoyle Hub and stop 2 Goodwood Road
  • AOX22 renumbered to AO22 Aberfoyle Hub via Goodwood Road: now operating for Crows games only, route amended to travel via Happy Valley Drive and now servicing all stops between Aberfoyle Hub and stop 2 Goodwood Road
  • AOX23 Morphettville Depot via Marion Road: renumbered to AO23 and will now service all stops between Morphettville Depot and stop 1 Anzac Highway
  • NEW AO29 Ingle Farm via Hampstead Road and Galway Avenue: new route operating along Melbourne Street, North East Road, Galway Avenue, Regency Road, Hampstead Road, Briens Road, Bridge Road, Dulkara Road, Winara Drive and Beovich Road to Ingle Farm Shopping Centre, servicing all stops between Ingle Farm and stop 3 Melbourne Street
  • AOX31 Morphettville Depot via Anzac Highway: renumbered as AO31 and will now service all stops between Morphettville Depot and stop 1 Anzac Highway

MAC Footy Express train services

MAC Footy Express train services operate to a very high frequency to and from Adelaide Railway Station, a short walk to Adelaide Oval. Download the full MAC Footy Express train timetables (PDF 683KB)

Please note - The Outer Harbor and Grange rail lines will be temporarily closed from Good Friday 14 April to Monday 24 April 2017 to allow works to continue for the Torrens Rail Junction Project. Additional substitute bus services will operate before and after the match as required. Click here for further information.

The Gawler rail line is now open (Friday 21 April) and operating to regular timetabled services.

Please note that the northern entrance of Adelaide Railway Station is currently closed. Allow extra time to get to the oval and exit the station via North Terrace and travel via King William Street or a temporary footbridge behind the Intercontinental Hotel. Please also note that Station Road, next to Adelaide Railway Station is also closed.

MAC Footy Express tram services

MAC Footy Express tram services operate to a very high frequency to and from the Adelaide Railway Station tram stop, a short walk to Adelaide Oval. Trams service all stops.

Please note that the northern entrance of Adelaide Railway Station is currently closed. Please use North Terrace and King William Street or a temporary footbridge behind the Intercontinental Hotel. 

Regional Footy Express bus services

  • Many regional services operate to and from Adelaide Oval, dropping off on Pennington Terrace. View the interchange map here

Regular Adelaide Metro bus, train and tram services

All regular Adelaide Metro bus, train and tram services are also free with your AFL game day ticket on the day*, so why not head into the city early or stay later to enjoy more of what Adelaide city has to offer?

*Weeknight games: The free travel period for normal Adelaide Metro scheduled services applies 3 hours prior to the game start time. 

The Tea Tree Plaza Park 'n' Ride will have a flat $2 fee when using a MetroCard to exit the Park 'n' Ride, otherwise normal fees apply.

Taxi ranks

There will be temporary taxi ranks installed for this event at the following locations:

  • King William Road western side, south of Pennington Terrace
  • Pennington Terrace southern side, east of main car park entry and opposite on the northern side
  • Montefiore Road eastern side, north of War Memorial Drive
  • War Memorial Drive, east of Montefiore Drive (disabled only)
  • Outside of Adelaide Convention Centre, North Terrace

Stops will reopen approximately one hour after the final game siren.

  • War Memorial Drive between King William Road and the pedestrian footbridge

Between 9.15pm and 11pm

  • King William Road between North Terrace and War Memorial Drive
  • Victoria Drive between King William Road and Kintore Avenue
  • Pennington Terrace between King William Road and Monefiore Road
  • Festival Drive between King William Road and Festival Centre car park

Between 9.45pm and 10.45pm

  • North Terrace between King William Street/Road and Victoria Street (buses and trams excepted)
